Bluefish are pleasing Sarasota anglers!
As a fishing guide in Sarasota for 25 years now, one thing that I can be assured of is that every year brings sometking a little different. Fishing is usually similar each season, but usually with a little twist. This year it has been the abundance of decent-sized bluefish. They are not huge by the standards of anglers from the northeast united States, but her in Sarasota, Florida, a 4 pound blue is a nice fish. They school up and are quite aggressive, and readily take an artificial lure or fly. My personal favorite is the Bass Assassin Sea Shad, but in reality most jigs or plugs will catch them. The key to success is to keep moving until they are located, then work that area thoroughly. Grass flats in 6' to 10' of water have been the most productive areas.
