Cool weather sparks fishing success in Sarasota!
Fall has finally arrived here on Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida. Water temperatures are in the low seventies and that has invigorated the fish to feed. Bait fish are still available but I have transitioned to casting jigs over the deep flats as the fish are more active and the erratic motion of these lures excited them into biting. Clients are catching speckled trout, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, and a lot of ladyfish on grass flats in 6' to 8' of water. Bass Assassin Sea Shad baits are my personal favorite. I match themwith a 1/4 ounce jig head in most applications. These baits come in a myriad of colors with glow/chartreuse and red/gold shiner being a couple of the most effective ones on my fishing charters.
