Decent fishing on Siesta Key
Action has been steady in Sarasota and Siesta Key the last week or so, despite fairly breezy conditions. Snook fishing has been the highlight, hitting plugs and live shrimp around docks and mangrove shorelines in Robert's Bay. Big Sarasota Pass was full of hard-fighting ladyfish with bluefish, Spanish mackerel, jack crevelle, and sailcats mixed in. Small charteuse pompano jigs worked best. The deep grass flats at the Middlegrounds and Bishop's Pt held speckled trout, bluefish, jacks, mackerel, and ladyfish for clients casting Bass Assassin Sea shad baits.
