False albacore showing up on Siesta Key fishing charters!
A couple of strong cold fronts moved through Florida, resulting in water temperature hovering around 70 degrees. This has triggered the false albacore and Spanish mackerel to school up in the inshore Gulf of Mexico, foraging on baitfish off of the Siesta Key beaches. This is a very visual form of fishing and can be very exciting! Casting lures into the frenzy almost always results in an instant hook-up. Sharks, king mackerel, cobia, tarpon, and other species are encountered as well.
