Fly fishing produces in Siesta Key
Winds were light and conditions were good for clients on Sarasota fly fishing charters this week. The middlegrounds was the top spot but Marker #5 also produced some fish. Speckled trout, bluefish, jacks, and ladyfish hit brightly colored Clouser Minnow flies on intermediate sink tip lines. The key this time of year is to get the fly down into the water column, as the water temperature is in the mid 80s and the fish are a tad deeper. Schools of small baitfish flooded the flats near the passes and casting into the bait pods was the most productive technique.
