I have a brief Siesta Key fishing report. Igot out several days this week to find good action on the deep grass flats. The areas north of New Pass, the Middlegrounds, Bishop's Pt., and Buttonwood were best. Speckled trout, Spanish mackerel, jack crevelle, snapper, grouper, and ladyfish kept anglers on fishing charters
busy. Chumming up the fish with live bait was the ticket to success.
The big new for us is Hurricane Irma. It is Saturday morning as I type this and we are fixing to move inland a bit. There is no way to know how this massive storm will affect our area, from both a fishing and damage standpoint, so all we can do is prepare and hope for the best!
