Hot speckled trout fishing in Sarasota!
Summer is here and the speckled trout bite has been as hot as the weather! There is a ton of bait on the flats, especially those near the passes. This in turn has attracted large numbers of spotted seatrout. They are holding on edges that dop off, over pot holes, and on sy=ubmerged gras beds in 6' to 8' of water. Jigs produced early but chumming with live bait fish has been the most reliable technique. Many of the trout are in the "slot" with some nice fish up to 22" also being caught on fishing charters. Snapper, grouper, mackerel, jacks, and ladyfish also were landed in the same spots.
