Hot weather and hot fishing on Siesta Key fishing charters
Summer is still here, despite what the calendar states. "Feels like" temperatures are still over 100 degrees and the water temperature this morning was 86 degrees. But despite that, fishing remains good in Sarasota Bay and the inshore Gulf of Mexico. Anglers on fishing charters on Siesta Key landed a variety of species fishing the deep grass flats near both Big Sarasota Pass and New Pass. Live pilchards and threadfin herring were used to chum them up and then catch them. Speckled trout, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, jack crevelle, grouper, ladyfish, and more. Also I have heard reports of sporadic surface action from mackerel and other species just off the beaches in the inshore Gulf of Mexico. One good cold front should really kick off some great fall fishing!
