Siesta Key sheepshead continue to please clients
The sheepshead fishing continues to be very steady in and around Big Sarasota Pass along the north end of Siesta Key and around the docks along Bird Key. Jeff Mock from Lakeland, FL drove down and met a work associate this morning. They were looking for action and a few fish to eat, and the sheephead did not disappoint. Shrimp fished on the bottom produced around 30 sheepies in an hour and a half along with mangrove snapper, Key West grunts, butterfish, and gag grouper. We switched gears and cast jigs while drifting the flats and caught some ladyfish and speckled trout, though the action was a bit sporadic and it was quite breezy. Visitors taking out a fishing charter in Sarasota can expect similar action.
