Snapper and mackerel pleasing Siesta Key anglers!
Fishing was good once again this week on the deep grass flats in Sarasota Bay. Bait was thick and easy to catch. Despite coming off the full moon and water temperatures rising into the upper 80's, the bite was steady. Clients on Sarasota fishing charters landed quite a few mangrove snapper, Spanish mackerel, and speckled trout along with jacks, grouper, ladyfish, small sharks, bluefish, and other species. Chumming with live bait was the preferred technique, though anglers also caught a few fish using jigs and plugs. Daily evening showers should knock the water temperatures down a bit and that will result in even better fishing.
