Snook plentiful on Siesta Key beaches
Snook are arguably the most popular inshore gamefish in Floriday. Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida has a good population of these hard-fishting fish. In the late spring snook migrate out to the beaches and passes to spawn. They remain there until September, when they start to move back into the back country areas. BIg Sarasota Pass lies to the north of Siesta Key and has miles of fish holding structure along with some of the deepest water in the area. Point of Rocks is a snook hot spot as is old Midnight Pass to the south. Snook can be caught on both live and artificial baits as well as anglers using fly tackle. Early morning, late afternoon, and evenings are the prime times to fish. Booking a Sarasota fishing charter with a knowlegable guide will increase the chances of success, but the recreational angler can do quite well, especially when targeting snook in the surf.
