Bluefish please Siesta Key fishing charter clients!
Recent rains and overcast skies caused a drop in water temperature from around 90 degrees down to 83 degrees. This resulted in an increase in Spanish mackerel and bluefish be caught by clients fishing Siesta Key and Sarasota Bay. As has been the case, chumming with live bait fish was the most productive technique, though drifting the flats and casting jigs and plugs will work as well, especially if there was a bit of wind. The blues are decent for our area, 4 pounds is a nice one here. They fight very hard for their size and are great fun on light spinning tackle!
