Cold snap triggers good river fishing in Sarasota
A recent cold snap dropped the water temperature down into the low 60's and got the fish moving up into local rivers and canals. Snook, jack crevelle, redfish, and more mix in with the freshwater bass to make for a fun fishing trip. Shallow diving plugs are my first choice as they allow angers to cover a lot of water fairly quickly. Deeper holes on the outside corners are the prime spots, especially when cover such as fallen timber is present. On really cool days, afternoons are generally best and an outgoing tide is preferred.
