Deep grass flats producing in Sarasota Bay
Fishing was very good once again this week. Clients experienced fast action on a variety of species using live bait. The technique was to load up on live bait fish, then use them to chum the gamefish in behind the boat. Speckled trout and Spanish mackerel were the most numerous species landed by anglers, but bluefish, gag grouper, mangrove snapper, jack crevelle, flounder, and ladyfish were also daily catches. The flats near both Big Sarasota Pass and New Pass were the top spots. It was quite hot, so getting out there early was the best approach.
