Fishing Siesta Key flats producing trout, mackerel, bluefish, and more!
The deep grass flats around both Big Pass and New Pass produced good action for clients who booked a fishing charter with me of late. The bite in the passes has slowed, and I believe it was due to the fish moving to the nearby flats. Marker #5, Marina Jacks, and Middlegrounds have been the best spots. Anglers did well with red/gold shiner Bass Assassin Sea Shad baits and to a lesser degree free lined shrimp. The best action has been early as the breeze picked up late morning. Speckled trout, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, gag grouper, flounder, and loads of ladyfish kept the rods bent. Snook are still hitting live and artificial baits along Siesta Key mangrove shorelines and canals.
