Good Easter fishing!
Clients fishing Siesta Key the last couple of weeks experienced very good action on the deep grass flats in Sarasota Bay and in both New Pass and Big Sarasota Pass. They had some good Easter fishing! Speckled trout and ladyfish were numerous and hit Bass Assassin jigs and Gulp Shrimp over grass beds in 6' to 10' of water. Spanish mackerel, pompano, flounder, bluefish, grouper, and more were also landed. The sheepshead run is winding down, though are still decent numbers of fish in the passes mixed in with snapper and grouper. I used frozen shrimp on these trips with good success. We also ran out on the beach and caught a few mackerel on Rapala plugs and a few small snook and jacks in Phillippi Creek. Plenty of action and variety using multiple techniques!
