Good fishing despite VERY warm conditions.
The fishing in Sarasota Bay continues to be very good on the deeper grass flats near both passes. Despite water temperatures hitting 90 degrees, fish are actively feeding on the live chum and baited hooks tossed out behind the boat. Fishermen are catching a lot of speckled trout with some good sized mangrove snapper, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, small grouper, jack crevelle, ladyfish, and small sharks mixed in. A well full of lively baits was the ket to succes, with bait being plentiful and easy to catch on the shallow grass flats. Getting out early was also imprtant, as the "feels like" temps were over 100 degrees by noon. Afternoon rains will help cool off the water a bit and fishing should get even better!
