Good Siesta Key fishing before strong front
A severe cold front is moving through this morning and will shut down the fishing for a day or two. As is usually the case, the bite was good ahead of the front for anglers. Ladyfish were thick in Big Sarasta Pass with some Spanish mackerel mixed in and hot jigs and plugs. The rocky structure along Siesta Key held decent numbers of sheepshead, though they will probably start to thin out after the full moon. The flats in Sarasota Bay at Marina Jacks and Middlegrounds produced ladyfish, speckled trout, mackerel, grouper, and pompano. The water will be a bit murky for a few days, but action should pick back up by the weekend.
