Good fishing in Siesta Key
It has been very warm here on Siesta Key, in Sarasota, Florida, along with steady winds around 15 knots. Getting out on the water early and being done before lunch time has been crucial to avoid the heat. The best bite has been early, casting Rapala plugs around grass flats that had schools of glass minnows on them. Snook, snapper, jacks, trout, sennet, and ladyfish were landed. There were still a lot of ladyfish on the north end of Siesta Key in Big Pass, and with the deeper water they bit better later in the morning. Pompano jigs bounced along the bottom while drifting with the tide worked well. Sme decent trout were landed free lining live shrimp on the nearby grass flats as well.
