Great fishing on Siesta Key!
Fishing has been fantastic the last few days as the weather finally settled down and the water cleared up. Baitfish are plentiful on many of the flats, especially those near the passes just north of Siesta Key. Bass Assasin jigs cast into the bait schools early in the morning has been a productive pattern, fooling speckled trout, bluefish, pompano, jacks, grouper, snapper, and ladyfish. Live baitfish are finally large enough to be caught with a cast net and used to chum the gamefish up into a feeding frenzy, resulting in great action for clients fishing Siesta Key. Live shrimp worked along edges of grass flats worked well, too. Snook are holding in both Big Sarasota Pass and New Pass, live pilchards, pinfish, and shrimp are the best bet.
