Mangrove snapper are plentiful on fishing charters!
The mangrove snapper migration is in full swing in Sarasota Bay. Snapper school up as they preapre to migrate out on the bays and into the Gulf of Mexico, and the feed heavily as they do so. Grass flats near the passes are loaded up with these tasty saltwater panfish, as is structure on the north side of Siesta Key in Big Pass and in New Pass. The Ringling Bridge and Twin Bridges help plenty of fish. Docks in Robert's Bay have also been productive for client anglers. Live bait is the way to go for the snapper, both live baitfish such as pilchards, threadfin, and pinfish and live shrimp were equally productive. Small hooks and lighter leaders will produce more bites.
