Sheepshead Fishing hot in Siesta Key
The sheepshead bite remains strong in Big Sarasota Pass on the north end of Siesta Key. These striped saltwater panfish readily take a fresh or frozen shrimp, fight hard, and taste great. The water has been a bit murky due to some windy conditions in the Gulf of Mexico. This can slow down the fishing for many species, but with sheepshead it can actually help as they have keen eyesight and can be tricky to hook. Big Pass has abundant rocks, docks, piers, and other structure thast attract sheepshead, snapper, and grouper. Anglers find that the fish run larger than others, but the action has been fast with enough larger fish mixed in to keep it interesting.
