Strong sheepshead fishing in Sarasota and Siesta Key
The annual sheepshead run is in full swing as these tasty and hard-fighting saltwater panfish have invaded the area in big numbers. Structure in both Big Sarasota Pass and New Pass as well as docks, bars, and bridges throughout the area will hold sheepshead as well as snapper and grouper. The entire north side of Siesta Key has rocky structure and is a very productive area. The best time to fish the passes is when the tide is slack, it is too difficult to fish when the tide is strong. Docks near the passes are a great option when there is current. A live shrimp fished on the bottom fooled plenty of fish for clients on Siesta Key fishing charters.
